Hammers had previously deemed their player as 'non-transferable'
The 25-year-old is part of the Swiss squad that recently produced a famous upset by beating European champions Spain 1-0 in their opening game in Group H.
The performances put in for the Hammers by Behrami last season saw him being heavily linked with a move to Serie A club Palermo, the Italian club's sporting director Walter Sabatini admitting that he would do everything possible to sign the player.
Now the former Lazio man's agent, Alessandro Beltrami, has revealed that talks with West Ham are set to take place after the World Cup.
"I have some contacts in the market because Valon is a player who is liked," Beltrami told Sportitalia.
"We have agreed with West Ham to meet and discuss after the World Cup but the last time they spoke to me they told me that they consider Behrami non-transferable.
"Who wants him? Palermo did in January but West Ham had to stay up and they needed Valon."
