Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is "convinced" the club will be able to break down Arsenal's resistance and sign Cesc Fabregas.

The Spain international has been at the centre of a tug of war between the sides since he told manager Arsene Wenger of his desire to return to his boyhood team at the end of the domestic season.

A £29 million bid has already been rejected by the Gunners, who have insisted that their skipper is not for sale at any price.

Speaking to the press, Rosell was sure the north London outfit's resistance would be broken down.

"We are not under any sort of pressure at the moment," Rosell said.

"We have the whole summer to sort this deal out.

"I am convinced that Cesc will be our player by the start of next season. I know what happens in football and I will not be surprised to see stories of other clubs chasing him.

"But we are very calm because the key person in all of this is Cesc himself.

"The only way he will leave Arsenal is if he is joining Barcelona because of his roots."
