Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva believes that Cesc Fabregas should remain at Arsenal rather than move to Barcelona.

Silva spent six years in north London, and played alongside Fabregas when the Catalan was a youngster.

The Panathinaikos man, currently away at the World Cup, thinks that his former Gunners team-mate might regret it were he to depart from the Emirates now.

"I think so," Silva told Sky Sports News when asked whether Fabregas should remain at Arsenal.

"I hope he stays. He is a big person and must ask himself and think very carefully if he has to go or not.

"But of course the final decision [is something] he has to do. In case this situation happens, it will be a big blow for Arsenal.

"But let's wait and see."
