On-loan Tottenham Hotspur star Eidur Gudjohnsen is set to make his return to the Premier League permanent after he agreed to leave AS Monaco.

Gudjohnsen, 31, joined the north London side in January and made 14 appearances as they finished in the Champions League qualifying round place. Despite only grabbing two goals during the spell, Skysports.com has reported that manager Harry Redknapp hopes to complete the full-time switch in the next fortnight.

The Iceland international had been linked with Aston Villa, but he now looks set for another stay in the capital after he previously spent six years with Chelsea.
