Stoke City close to capturing Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley - report

FA Cup: Joe Ledley, Barnsley - Cardiff City (PA)
Stoke City are believed to be closing in on a move for Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley.

The Potters had previously been interested in signing the Wales international when they were promoted to the Premier League in 2008, but a £6 million bid was reportedly rejected at the time.

However, now the Bluebirds risk losing the player as his contract is due to expire during the summer.

The Mirror reports that the Welsh club are set to make the 23-year-old their highest paid player, amidst interest from Blackburn Rovers, Celtic, Fulham and Wolves.

But Stoke are said to be in pole position to secure the services of the talented Welshman, who is expected to make a decision on his future after returning from a holiday in Portugal.

Having missed out on promotion to the Premier League yet again, an opportunity to play in the top flight could seriously test the midfielder's resolve to stay with Cardiff.
