Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has urged his side to keep winning after moving four points clear at the top of the Premier League table with victory over Burnley.

Under-fire Blues skipper John Terry secured victory for the Londoners at Turf Moor and, speaking to ESPN after the game, Lampard admitted it had been a tough game.

“We knew it was a difficult place to come, a cold night but I think we did pretty well and deserved to win the game for sure,” he revealed.

“We created quite a few chances but Burnley are a very tough team to play against and at this stage, with the big game coming up tomorrow [Arsenal versus Manchester United] it was important that we won and we did.”

The England international also admitted his side were in a rich vein of form and called on his team-mates to maintain their match-winning ways.

“It’s a very important stage of the season and we are in good form at the minute and it is just important that we keep the run going,” he added.

“I think we are playing good football and today we had to show a little bit of grit, when they came back when they pulled level, we kept creating chances and we can sort of enjoy tomorrow and keep going.

“We have got plenty of character in the team and in the squad and sometimes you have to show it and today we did.”

The midfielder also had kind words for the Clarets and admitted he hoped they could escape relegation at the end of the season.

“I think they play very good football and you have to wish them a lot of luck because teams that are down don’t always play such good football as Burnley are playing,” he said.

“I wish them all the luck. They are great lads.”
