The former Chelsea man's omission from Sunday's squad has sparked controversy in Canada, while the team maintains injury is to blame
Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was not included in Montreal Impacts' 18-man squad for their derby game with Toronto FC on Sunday, fuelling speculation of a possible rift between the Ivorian and club officials.
The club has explained Drogba’s exclusion as being because of back problems, but according to a report from local channel RDS, Drogba has had a falling out with coach Mauro Biello.
Rumours earlier in the week linked the 38-year-old forward with a move to Serie A.
Montreal Impact need a win against Toronto to earn a play-off position with just Sunday's match and one more game remaining.
