Aitor Karanka is looking to bolster his squad as he chases promotion from the Championship and is poised to complete a double deal for Jelle Vossen and Yanic Wildschut
Middlesbrough are in talks to complete deals for long-term target Jelle Vossen and Yanic Wildschut, Goal understands.
Boro first moved for Vossen 18-months ago, but failed to agree terms with Genk - but they have maintained a strong interest and had an offer refused earlier this summer.
But Vossen has been at loggerheads with Genk's hierarchy and new coach Alex McLeish has now given his blessing to the striker's exit.
Boro's persistence has been rewarded as they will get 25-year-old Vossen on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.
Aitor Karanka, who is desperate to bolster their squad after back-to-back home defeats put an early dent in their promotion hopes, is also lining up a deal for Heerenveen winger Wildschut.
Boro have been scouting the 22-year-old since last season and now they are in talks over a permanent deal for the Dutchman and both players are due in the North East for medicals this weekend.
Even with the Vossen and Wildschut deals, Karanka is also looking for further options in midfield and defence but he could wait for the long market to re-open in September.
