The 22-year-old signed a two-year deal at Villa Park this summer and will now seek first-team opportunities at the Amex Stadium
Brighton have won the battle to land Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner on-loan, Goal understands.
A host of Championship clubs have been trying to broker a deal to take the 22-year-old on a temporary deal.
Gardner, who signed a new two-year deal with Villa in the summer, is currently on the fringes of the first-team squad and Paul Lambert is eager for him to get regular football.
He will sign a contract to stay at the Amex Stadium until at least January, with the option to extend the agreement.
Gardner has come through the ranks at Villa Park and has been previously loaned out to Coventry City and Sheffield Wednesday, although he has only a handful of first-team appearances to his name.
