Newcastle United target Alexandre Lacazette insists he is concentrating on Lyon ahead of the new season.

Goal understands that the Premier League club have continued talks in recent weeks over signing the 23-year-old, but Lyon's demands have proved too much so far for Alan Pardew's side.

Newcastle want another striker to bolster their front-line and Lacazette had emerged as their top target, along with former loan star Loic Remy, after missing out on Hamburg frontman Pierre Michel Lasogga.

But Lacazette has insisted that he is more than happy at Lyon and he can handle the pressure that comes with being constantly linked with a move.

"Last winter there were rumours, rumours of a possible departure and you can hear anything and everything, it has not been easy," the striker told reporters.

"Now I am used to it, and I am now in Lyon and concentrating on the new season. It is true that with myself, Max [Gonalons] and Clement [Grenier], we have people looking at us – but it’s a good pressure."

Pardew has already bolstered his attack with Emmanuel Riviere, Ayoze Perez and Facundo Ferreyra but is keen to continue the spending as Newcastle aim to improve on an 10th-placed finish this season.

The Premier League side are also closing in on the double signing of Nottingham Forest pair Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow, with the youngsters set to be loaned back to the Championship outfit for the season.
