The striker could be set to join a mass exodus from Benfica following the departures Lazar Markovic, Jan Oblak and Ezequiel Garay this summer
The 31-year-old still has two years remaining on his existing deal with the Portuguese club, but could be set to move to Turkey and join a mass exodus from the Estadio da Luz.
Lazar Markovic, Jan Oblak and Ezequiel Garay have already departed this summer and a statement on Trabzonspor's official website has revealed Cardozo could be the next of those to leave.
“We have begun negotiations with both Oscar Rene Cardozo and SL Benfica," read an official statement released on Saturday morning.
The Paraguay international joined Benfica from Newell's Old Boys in 2007 and has since scored 73 goals in 126 appearances for the club.
