Pochettino refuses to be drawn on Schneiderlin speculation

While the Tottenham boss had no news on the club’s pursuit of the Southampton midfielder, he is delighted to have sealed a deal for £4 million centre-back Eric Dier
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has declined to comment on speculation linking Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin with a move to White Hart Lane.

Both the France international and team-mate Jay Rodriguez are being pursued by the north Londoners, though Saints chairman Ralph Krueger insists neither player will be allowed to leave this summer.

Goal revealed that Schneiderlin is furious that he has been denied the opportunity to link up with Pochettino and is ready to hand in a transfer request, though the Argentine boss refused to comment on the club’s pursuit of the 24-year-old midfielder.

“With regards to Schneiderlin you know we never talk about a player from another club,” Pochettino is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“It’s like before. If there is any news or anything happens the club will communicate with the media.”

One player who Spurs have captured this summer is Eric Dier, who joins the club in a £4 million deal from Sporting, and Pochettino is confident the 20-year-old defender can contribute immediately.

“He is a young player, an Under-21 international and a strong centre-back,” added the former Espanyol boss. “We hope he will help us this season.”
