The 24-year-old netted 10 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances last term and sporting director Marc Overmars says joining Harry Redknapp's side is a "good opportunity"
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances last season and is a regular for the Iceland national side.
Harry Redknapp has yet to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window, although Loic Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, could still be part of QPR’s squad after his proposed move to Liverpool collapsed.
"I have had some good talks with QPR over Kolbeinn,” Overmars told Voetbal International.
“We are pretty close to each other regarding the transfer fee. But the player's demands are obviously important as well.
“I think QPR is a good opportunity for Kolbeinn. Just look at how Wilfried Bony fares in the Premier League. He has already caught the attention of some major clubs after just one year in England."
