TOTTENHAM LATEST

Mauricio Pochettino left Saints to become Spurs manager at the end of the season, and looks set to be reunited with two of his former charges.

Schneiderlin has also attracted keen interest from Arsenal, but, as revealed by Goal, his close ties to Pochettino means he favours a move to White Hart Lane despite the attraction of Champions League football.

Rodriguez is also close to the Argentine, and would move to north London despite currently recovering from a serious knee injury picked up against Manchester City at the end of the 2013-14 Premier League season.

The Saints have already lost five players this summer, with Luke Shaw joining Manchester United, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren all moving to Liverpool, and Calum Chambers completing a move to Arsenal on Monday.

The south coast club will receive over £100 million in transfer fees for those five players, but had been especially keen to ward off interest in Schneiderlin, offering the France international the captaincy and a pay rise.

Tottenham have already signed left-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Michael Vorm from Swansea City this summer, and Pochettino has insisted he is happy with the make-up of his squad ahead of the new season.

Schneiderlin joined Southampton from Strasbourg in 2008 when the Saints were in the Championship, and has made 226 appearances for the club.

Rodriguez has scored 26 goals in 76 appearances for the Saints since leaving Burnley in 2012, including 15 last season as he got himself in contention for a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad before injury hit in April.
