The 27-year-old, who was one of the stars of the 2013-14 Serie A season, is on the verge of moving to Turin on a permanent transferVerona sporting director Sean Sogliano has confirmed that Romulo is closing in on a move to Juventus.
The versatile midfielder, who can also play at right-back, was one of the surprise stars of last season and has been repeatedly linked with a summer switch to Turin.
Sogliano has now admitted that Verona are on the verge of agreeing a permanent deal with Juve for the 27-year-old.
"The deal is well underway," he told Sky Sport Italia. "There are still details to be worked out but in the next few days we'll be looking at having a decisive meeting.
"I don't speak of percentages but I will say, however, that there is a desire to close the deal.
"We'll see. We'll wait before that the deal is closed, but I can say that the formula will not be that of the loan with the right of redemption."
Romulo initially joined Verona on loan from Fiorentina but the Gialloblu acquired full ownership of the player earlier this month.
