The 22-year-old defender was also the subject of significant interest from Southampton but has opted to link up with fellow new signing Rio Ferdinand at Loftus Road
Steven Caulker is having a medical ahead of finalising an £8 million move from Cardiff City to QPR, Goal understands.
The 22-year-old was also the subject of significant interest from Southampton but has opted to move to Loftus Road, where he will link up with fellow new signing Rio Ferdinand.
Former Tottenham youngster Caulker signed for Cardiff last summer for £8m after impressing on loan at Welsh rivals Swansea City, making 38 Premier League appearances as the Bluebirds were relegated.
Caulker will become QPR's second signing of the summer as boss Harry Redknapp looks to ready his newly-promoted squad for the challenge of surviving in the top flight this season.
Speaking about the need for reinforcements on Tuesday, Redknapp said: "I want lads that want to have a go - you just have to hope you can get them. You can take chances with too many foreign players.
“In the main I like players that have played in England and proved they can do it here rather than wait six months to see if they settle in - we haven't got six months.
"We need to stay in the league this year so we know what we are getting with the Caulkers and the Rios. We are looking at another English striker so if I can get British players in the main then I will."
