The Netherlands defender, reportedly wanted by Louis van Gaal, is in talks with the Italian club and Igli Tare says that they are close to reaching an agreement with FeyenoordLazio sporting director Igli Tare claims that Stefan de Vrij wants to join the Italian club, dismissing reports that the Feyenoord defender is in talks with Manchester United.
De Vrij has been linked with a reunion with Louis van Gaal, with the pair currently working together for Netherlands at the World Cup.
The 22-year-old's stellar performances in Brazil have drawn admiring glances from across Europe but Tare is adamant that the player's "will"is to join Lazio.
"Many things have been said and written about De Vrij and his transfer to United but this is not true," he told reporters.
"His agent has said clearly that he has never been to Manchester to meet with the English club. De Vrij's will is to play in Lazio."
Reports had suggested that Lazio had given up on De Vrij in light of United's interest and had turned their attentions to Cagliari's Davide Astori but Tare says that the club are keen to acquire both defenders.
"Astori wants to come too and we're talking with Cagliari to find an agreement," he added.
