Morgan Schneiderlin has hinted that he could join Luke Shaw and Rickie Lambert in leaving Southampton this summer.

Shaw completed his long-awaited £30m move to Old Trafford on Friday after Lambert had moved to Liverpool – with Adam Lallana soon to join him – and Schneiderlin says “every player wants to play on big occasions”, with both Arsenal and Tottenham believed to be interested in securing his signature.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of France's round of 16 clash with Nigeria at the World Cup he said: "Listen, I'm aware of Southampton's situation. On a personal level the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.

"I've been there for a long time now. We'll see how things go but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.

"Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands so we'll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions."

When quizzed on whether he could join former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, he added: “I'm not saying anything!”

Schneiderlin made 33 Premier League appearances for Southampton last season, scoring two goals.
