Barcelona have been long-term admirers of Kompany, and the 28-year-old has revealed past approaches from the Liga giants but confirmed there has been no interest of late.

"I've been close a few times to signing for [Barcelona], there was contact," he told Mundo Deportivo.

"But in recent times, I can officially assure you there has not been anything that I know of."

City's hierarchy see Kompany as a possible future executive at the end of his playing days, and the 28-year-old has revealed he has no intention of departing the Etihad Stadium and the "attractive" project at the club.

"I have a current contract with Manchester City, I am very comfortable," he said

"We have won the Premier League, we have a serious and attractive project. It is not in my plans to leave the team."
