Goal understands that the Gunners have held a series of talks with Toulouse and are on the verge of completing the signing of the right-back, as Arsene Wenger targets a replacement for Manchester City-bound Bacary Sagna.

And Drogba was suitably impressed with Aurier after the full-back provided two assists as the Ivory Coast came from behind to beat Japan 2-1 on Saturday night.

"He's the best right-back in all of France," Drogba told Fifa's official website. "I think he'll do well at the next level too, in the Premier League."

Aurier himself was full of pride after seeing crosses converted by Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony and former Arsenal man Gervinho, respectively, as Sabri Lamouchi's side cancelled out Keisuke Honda's opener in a Group C clash.

"I can't believe it," he said. "It's my first World Cup, we're here in Brazil and I helped the team to win. It's like a dream."
