thumbnail Hello,

The Argentina midfielder would not be drawn on whether or not he will stay at Camp Nou, after a season he believes has spelled the end of the club's cycle of dominance

Javier Mascherano refused to be drawn on his future after Barcelona missed out on winning La Liga to Atletico Madrid, but believes the club's dominance in Spain and Europe has ended.

The Catalan club failed to retain their Liga title this season after drawing 1-1 with Atleti at Camp Nou in their final game of the season, handing the championship to Diego Simeone's men, who also knocked Barca out of the Champions League.

Barca also surrendered to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, meaning they end the season without a major trophy.

Mascherano acknowledged the club has to make significant changes this summer, but stayed quiet on his own future.

"The least important thing today is the future of Mascherano, Barcelona is what matters. An unrepeatable cycle has finished," he told Barca TV.

"The club will make decisions and changes but we have to accept that this season has not been the best."

Coach Tata Martino has confirmed he will be leaving the club this summer, with Luis Enrique expected to replace him.
