Roma cannot afford Kolarov wages, says agent

The Manchester City left-back has one year left to run on his contract and his representative claims that Juventus, Inter, AC Milan and Monaco are all also interested
Serie A high-flyers Roma do not have the financial muscle to sign Manchester City's Aleksandar Kolarov, according to the left-back's agent.

The Serbia international has just one more year on his contract and the Giallorossi have been "following" his situation but his prohibitively high salary at the Etihad Stadium is proving a stumbling block.

"I can tell you that Roma are following him but there are problems," Dejan Joksimovic told AS Roma Radio.

9/2 Aleksandar Kolarov is 9/2 with Bet365 to score against Everton
"Firstly he has a contract for €3.5 million [£2.9m] for another year with Manchester City so it would be difficult because Rome cannot pay these figures."

Joksimovic went on to reveal that several Serie A big-hitters, as well as Ligue 1 challengers Monaco, are interested in the 28-year-old but that there are no firm offers currently in the pipeline.

He added: "There are other teams that are following him like AC Milan, Juventus, Inter, Monaco and also a few Russian teams are now also willing to pay his wages.

"So for now we do not know anything and there is nothing concrete."

Kolarov has often played second fiddle to Gael Clichy at the Etihad Stadium, though he has made 27 Premier League appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's charges this term.
