The Netherlands international hopes to stay with the Rossoneri for "another four or five years" and hopes that his former club, Hamburg, can avoid relegation from the Bundesliga

AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong wants remain with the Italian club for "another four or five years".

The combative midfielder joined the Rossoneri from Manchester City in the summer of 2012 and has since developed into a key player at San Siro.

De Jong has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season for a side who have struggled for form in both domestic and European competition but, despite Milan's below-par campaign, the former Ajax man is eager to extend his stay at the club.

"I want to try and stay at Milan for another four or five years," he told Bild.

The 29-year-old, who has a contract with Milan until June 2015, then went on to discuss the situation of his former club, Hamburg, in the Bundesliga and he hopes that they will avoid relegation.

"I feel really sorry about what has happened to HSV in the past few months," the Dutchman lamented. "They are a great club and I don't want them to go down."

Hamburg currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga table with 19 points from 22 games.
