Buttner wants Manchester United stay

The left-back has been unable to displace Patrice Evra following his arrival in August 2012 and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in January
Alexander Buttner insists he wants to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United.

The 24-year-old joined the Premier League champions from Vitesse in August 2012 but has struggled to displace Patrice Evra at left-back.

Buttner has made seven appearances in total this season and started in the club’s 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

"If people talk about other players in my position, I don’t care," Buttner told the club’s official website.

"I just want to play my game and show that I can handle the level.

“I know there are some clubs that want me but I’m happy here and want to play for United so I focus 100 per cent on here.

"I don’t want to leave. I want to fight for my place. I am still young and I know what I can do. I just have to wait for my chances and take them."
