A director for the Turkish club has admitted talks are underway to bring the Brazilian ace to Istanbul, but the players wage demands are proving to be a stumbling block
The 33-year-old is currently out of contract and available on a free transfer after his current deal expired with Atletico Mineiro, and Besiktas have acted quickly in an attempt to secure the services of the soon-to-be sought after samba star.
Turkish media are reporting that high-ranking Besiktas personnel have met with Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto Assis, although the club have yet to quantify this themselves.
However, Besiktas board member Ahmet Kavalci did tell reporters: "We want to sign Ronaldinho."
Yet the player's personal terms are preventing a deal being sealed, with Besiktas keen for sponsors to foot the bill for the former World Player of the Year's salary.
"His wage is too high for us. We need a sponsor for him. We haven't had an agreement with a sponsor yet and this is the only reason for not singing him," Kavalci continued.
