The Rossoneri vice-president says the club will be active in the January transfer window, but insists neither Mario Balotelli or Stephan El Shaarawy will leave the San Siro

Adriano Galliani has revealed that AC Milan are looking to sign a defender and a forward as they attempt to rescue their disastrous Serie A campaign.

The San Siro giants have slumped into the bottom half of the table after winning just three of their opening 13 league fixtures, with coach Massimiliano Allegri's position under intense scrutiny.

And Galliani has admitted the Rossoneri will need to enter the transfer market in January in an attempt to revive their fortunes.

"We have very clear ideas about the transfer window," he told reporters ahead of Milan's Champions League clash with Celtic on Tuesday.

"We will look to sign a defender and a wide attacker."

However, the Milan vice-president insists the new additons will arrive to support, rather than replace, star duo Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy.

"Balotelli will stay. I am 101 per cent certain of that. He's our centre forward, he's just going through one of those moments," he said.

"El Shaarawy is staying as well. A well known coach from abroad rang to ask me about his availability and I politely said no."
