West Ham have shelved plans to offer England Under-21s sensation Ravel Morrison a new contract, Goal understands.
The former United academy graduate's current deal expires in June 2015 and, although the Hammers would like to negotiate fresh terms immediately, the club know yjsy they will have to postpone plans to tie their prize asset to a longer deal.
Morrison was discarded by Manchester United 18 months ago following a series of off-field problems but has flourished so far this season under Sam Allardyce, following a successful loan spell at Birmingham City last term.

"We won't be holding talks on a new contract until near or the end of this season," a source told Goal. "Were we to go to him now, it's unlikely he would want to talk. Like us, he wants to see where he is at the end of the season.
"We will then know how many goals he's scored, where he stands as a player, the impact he's had on things, the number of assists he's provided and everything else.
"At that point we can put exactly the right contract before him which includes the necessary provisions for his future potential."
West Ham co-owner David Gold recently denied that Morrison, who has scored four goals in all competitions this season including a stunning solo effort in a 3-0 win at Tottenham, has a buy-out clause in his existing contract.
Manager Allardyce says that he is unaware if such a clause exists but is nevertheless concerned that the Premier League champions may try to resign the midfielder.
