thumbnail Hello,

The Santiago Bernabeu boss does not anticipate any more players being sold this summer, and is looking to keep hold of his stars ahead of the new campaign

Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out further departures from Real Madrid, stating he is counting on each member of the present squad for the new season.

The likes of Fabio Coentrao, Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria had all been linked with the exit door following the Italian's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

However, the Italian has declared he has no intention of initiating a clear-out, and insists the squad is united and entirely at his disposal.

"Coentrao is thinking about leaving, but I’d be happy if he stayed because he’s a cracking player. Being at Madrid isn’t so bad," the 54-year-old joked with reporters on Saturday.

"Khedira isn’t going to leave. No player is in a position to leave. Di Maria is also going to stay. The dressing room is great, the atmosphere is really good.

"The start of the league is the important thing now and we’re ready to get going."

Los Blancos will begin their campaign to wrest the Primera Liga crown from rivals Barcelona against Real Betis next Sunday, and Ancelotti is hoping for good news from the treatment room soon.

"Xabi [Alonso] and [Raphael] Varane have got a lot better," the Champions League winner confirmed.

"In fact, Xabi is ready to join us next week. [Sumer arrival Asier] Illarramendi still needs a little more time, but he’s also getting better."

Alonso has made a gradual return to training after undergoing groin surgery in June, while prodigious defender Varane is on the comeback trail from a serious knee injury sustained against Espanyol last term.
