The League One side are now awaiting official clearance from the Football League to field the midfielder in Saturday's opener against Rotherham.
The former England youth player has been registered with Arsenal since the age of seven and made his competitive debut two seasons ago.
Aneke has also spent time on loan with Stevenage and Preston North End.
