Steve Clarke's assistant says that the Baggies are "working very hard" to recruit new signings to join Nicolas Anelka and Goran Popov at the Hawthorns this summer
The 46-year-old feels that the Baggies are on the right path ahead of the upcoming campaign but need to bolster the squad after finding themselves a little depleted during pre-season.
They will also be without last season's top scorer Romelu Lukaku, who netted 17 Premier League goals while on loan, as he attempts to secure a first-team berth at parent club Chelsea.

"We've had a few players go out and the club are working extremely hard in the background to try to bring in a couple of new bodies of real quality that are going to excite the fans, similar to when Nico [Nicolas Anelka] came in, when everyone went: 'Wow, how's he signed for West Brom?'
"We're hopeful that things will come off but we'll see over the next few weeks.
"We certainly need a couple of players and Richard [Garlick, sporting and technical director] and the chairman are working very hard to try and bring in new recruits."
Anelka is Clarke's only permanent addition of the close-season to date, with Goran Popov having joined on loan from Dynamo Kiev.
