The Schalke star has reiterated his promise not to move to the club's arch-rivals, but believes he would have suited the style of play promoted by Jurgen Klopp at Signal Iduna Park
Following the departure of BVB star Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, the Champions League finalists were linked with a move for the teenage attacker.
And, while he insists that he has no intention of joining Jurgen Klopp's side, the Germany international believes he would prosper at Signal Iduna Park.
"In purely sporting terms, I would have fit into the Dortmund team," he told Sport 1. "I don't find it offensive that BVB enquired about me. We did not do anything different when we got Felipe Santana from Dortmund.
"But I can promise everyone that I will not play for Borussia Dortmund."
Although Draxler rejected an approach from Chelsea this summer, he has previously refused to rule out a move to the Premier League or La Liga in the future, saying it would be a "dream" to join Manchester United or Chelsea.
"I turned down a lot of money, but it's not as though I have to live on bread and water," he said.
"What boy does not dream of playing for a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or Manchester United?"
