The 33-year-old, who did not play a single game for the west London side last season, has opted to play his football in the Super Lig after his contract with the Blues expired
The Super Lig outfit, who endured a disappointing campaign in the Turkish top flight last season, have revealed via their official website that former Lyon midfielder has signed a two-year deal after being released by Chelsea earlier this summer.
The 33-year-old endured a torrid time last season, failing to feature in a single game and having been forced to train with the club’s youth team.
His last appearance for the Blues was the triumphant Champions League final in Munich in 2012 where he came on as a substitute in the penalty shoot-out win.
A number of teams had been reported to be interested in the Frenchman including Napoli and Marseille, but the former France international decided to make Trabzonspor his home for the next two years.
