The 25-year-old looks set to leave the Gunners on a permanent basis after struggling to establish himself at the club following unspectacular loan spells at Sunderland and Juventus.

Bundesliga outfit Frankfurt have confirmed they have spoken to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and a deal for the Denmark international could be concluded soon.

A statement on Frankfurt’s official website read: “Danish player Nicklas Bendtner and his advisers held final talks with Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, 9 July 2013.

“Sports director Bruno Hubner has been in close contact with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and a final decision regarding the purchase of Bendtner should be taken in the next two days.”

Bendtner spent last season on loan at Serie A giants Juventus but failed to score in 10 appearances in all competitions for the club.
