The QPR manager, who returned to business at Loftus Road on Monday, expects the 30-year old midfielder to leave the Hoops once the club have given him a financial package

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that Joey Barton is holding out for a "payday" before joining Olympique de Marseille on a permanent deal.

Barton, who spent last season on loan at the Stade Velodrome, has denied asking the club for £3.5 million to end his Loftus Road stay.

And Redknapp stated that he has no idea where Barton will end up after the midfielder failed to report for pre-season training on Monday.

"Joey Barton was sent the same information as every other player," Redknapp told Talksport. "That was to report for training on Monday. We haven’t seen him.

"He wants to go to Marseille and he did very well there last year, but he's got two years left on his deal here.

"I think he's looking for the club to give him a payday here and then he’ll go. I don’t know how it’s all going to end."

Barton moved to les Phoceens in August 2012 after being handed a 12-match ban by the FA for his conduct after being sent off against Manchester City on the final day of the 2011-12 season.

He went on to make 25 league appearances for Marseille, who secured Champions League football by finishing second in Ligue 1.
