Official: Cardiff sign Cornelius from FC Copenhagen

The 20-year-old, who scored 18 times in 32 games last term, is a club-record £7.5 million arrival for the Premier League newcomers and has penned a five-year deal
Cardiff City have completed the signing of striker Andreas Cornelius from FC Copenhagen, subject to Premier League ratification and international clearance.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Cardiff City Stadium for a club-record £7.5 million fee to become Malky Mackay's first summer signing since gaining promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

Cornelius, who completed a medical on Monday at the Bluebirds' Vale of Glamorgan training base, is excited at plying his trade in England's top flight, admitting he turned down offers from elsewhere to link up with the Welsh side.

"This is a dream come true for me,” Cornelius told the club's official website. "I’ve been given a great opportunity and this is a very exciting project that’s taking place at Cardiff City. I’m very happy to be here and to be playing for this Club in the Premier League.
"There were opportunities for me this summer and I had to think about what was the right thing to do, the correct step for me to take in terms of my career. I was impressed by what the club is trying to do, the fact it has reached the Premier League and that it has a passionate fan base supporting it."

Cardiff are also in pole position to again break their transfer record after having an £8m bid for Blackpool forward Tom Ince accepted, while Mackay has admitted interest in Benfica star Oscar Cardozo.
