Owner Vincent Tan has pledged to invest up to £25 million in the Bluebirds squad as they look to avoid slipping back into the Championship.

Cardozo notched 33 goals in all competitions last season as Jorge Jesus’ side finished runners-up in the domestic league, cup, and Europa League, prompting links with Manchester City, but Mackay has revealed he has been monitoring the striker's situation.

"I know all about the attributes of Cardozo. I know exactly how he plays," he told Record.

"I think he would suit our game and would be interesting for us."

Denmark international striker Andreas Cornelius is set to become the club’s record signing in the coming days with a £7.5 million move from FC Copenhagen, before an £8 million bid for 21-year-old forward Tom Ince accepted by Blackpool was accepted last week.
