And the former Arsenal midfielder has given the north London club a taste of what is to come by praising the outgoing Brazilian international for his peerless work ethic.
"Paulinho is, what I really want to say, a really professional guy. [He is] very focused in training, in the match," he told BBC Sport.
"He doesn't like to lose, he always fights to be [in a] good position in the table.
"[He] scores so many goals, it's quite strange to see his number because he's a midfielder. He scores so many goals - important goals.
"As a player he is box-to-box, easily. It is very difficult to find a player with his characteristics."
