Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler says that transfer target Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a “great player” who would suit the Reds.
As revealed by Goal, Brendan Rodgers's men are chasing the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder as part of a £42 million transfer splurge and the ex-England international thinks that the Armenian would fit right in at Anfield.
"Yes, he's a great player. I've seen him a few times in the Champions League," he told Goal. "He's a very attacking, very young forward. We're linked to him. I don't know if he's going to sign. I'm sure whoever comes in will be the right fit."
Liverpool have been busy already in the transfer window, bringing in Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Simon Mignolet. Fowler thinks that the Reds have signed a good blend of youth and experience and is excited about what the new players can bring to the team next season.

"Obviously Jamie Carragher has retired now and, sadly, I don't think you could ever replace Jamie - he's that good - but Kolo Toure comes in and he adds plenty of experience, which is what Carra had.
"As for the two Spanish boys [Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas], I think they're very classic players, technically very, very good.
"Coming to the Premier League, it will be tough but I'm sure Brendan and the rest of the staff have worked on that, what type of players they are.
"It's exciting times for Liverpool. A mixture of youth and experience. I think the future looks very, very good for Liverpool."
The 38-year-old also had words of praise for manager Rodgers, whom he expects will stay at the club for a long time to come and has the club moving in the right direction.
"[He is] definitely a long-term manager. I like him as a person, I like him as a manager," Fowler remarked. "When he came in, it was always going to be difficult because Liverpool's a massive club.
"But you see what he's done, you can see him adding his footprint now and Liverpool certainly look like a better team now since he first joined, and I don't mean that in sort of a derogatory way to any manager.
"I just think that we're looking more confident playing under Brendan Rodgers now than what we did playing under Brendan Rodgers at the start of last season."
