The Potters owner has revealed the club are on the lookout for a new left-back and the 24-year-old Dutchman fits the bill perfectly despite a troubled season
Stoke chairman Peter Coates has revealed his club have an interest in Netherlands full-back Erik Pieters.
The Potters are yet to recruit any new players this summer and with rivals Aston Villa and Fulham having already purchased several players, Stoke are playing catch-up in the transfer market.
And left-back is high on new boss Mark Hughes' agenda, with Marc Wilson having filled in there since his arrival at the Britannia Stadium in the summer of 2010.
Coates told The Sentinel: "We are certainly looking for a left-back because we've only got Marc Wilson at the moment, and he was brought in as a midfield player.
"We haven't made any decision (on Pieters) because we are looking at options, but he's certainly a possibility."
Pieters was limited to just two appearances for PSV last season by a series of injuries which kept him out for the majority of the campaign.
