The former AC Milan midfielder's representative is hopeful that his client will make the move to the Viola ahead of the 2013-14 campaign after being released from San Siro
The veteran midfielder, 36, is available on a free transfer after he was released by the Rossoneri this summer after 18 years at the club and has since been linked with a move to MLS as well as Premier League outfit West Ham.
However, the former Italy international prefers a prolonged stay in Serie A, according to his representative, and has set his sights on a transfer to the Viola.
"We are awaiting Fiorentina's decision on whether they think Massimo can still add something to the team," Roggi told Radio Blu.
"His personal preference is to make the move to Fiorentina [rather than move abroad]. It's now up to them to decide if they have room for him.
"There have not been any developments, so we will have to be patient and see what happens."
Fiorentina could become Ambrosini's fourth club after previous spells at Cesena, Vicenza and Milan.
