Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic has ruled out a return to Chelsea for now, insisting he still has more to do in Portugal.
The 24-year-old has impressed for Jorge Jesus’ side since joining from Stamford Bridge in 2011 in a deal that saw David Luiz move the other way.
Reports have linked Matic with the Blues and Premier League rivals Manchester United, but the Serbia international has ruled out a summer move back to England.
"Frankly, I want to stay another year in Lisbon,” he told Sportske.net.
Chelsea signed Matic from Kosice for £1.5 million in 2009 but he failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team, and eventually moved to the Estadio da Luz after previously spending a loan spell at Dutch side Vitesse.
The midfielder admitted he would relish the chance to have another crack at the Premier League, and to play under Jose Mourinho, but feels he can help Benfica achieve more.
"Of course, someone like Jose Mourinho wanting me to go back to London would be an opportunity to prove that I can play in the Premier League," he added.
“But I want to achieve more at Benfica, particularly in the big games."
