Aston Villa confirm talks with Aalborg over striker Helenius

Aston Villa have confirmed they are in negotiations with Aalborg over Danish striker Nicklas Helenius.

The 22-year-old has impressed in the Superligaen in recent campaigns, and notched 16 goals and seven assists for Aalborg last season, making him the division's second-highest scorer.

Villa, who finished 15th in the Premier League last season and narrowly avoided relegation, hope to wrap up a deal for the towering centre-forward in the coming weeks.

"Aston Villa can confirm that the Club are in negotiations with Aalborg BK for the transfer of Danish forward Nicklas Helenius," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days."

Paul Lambert's side have already been active in the summer transfer window having completed the signing of Bulgarian winger Aleksandar Tonev and secured a new three-year deal for Andreas Weimann.
