Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been distanced from a switch to Serie A outfit Napoli after his agent played down the likelihood of a transfer away from Anfield.
The Slovakian was named Liverpool’s player of the season in the 2011/12 campaign and was rewarded with a new four-year-deal, but has found his playing time limited under Brendan Rodgers.
Skrtel is one of several Liverpool players linked with a move to Napoli following ex-Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez’s appointment, but Skrtel's agent Karol Csonto has dismissed rumours.
"It's not possible; I consider it a very difficult deal,” Csonto told Calciomercatio.it.
"I like Napoli and I have great respect for this club, but Martin still has a three-year contract with Liverpool and the most likely outcome is that he remains there."
Following the appointment of Benitez at the Stadio San Paolo, Csonto said: “They spent three years together, establishing a good relationship with him, but I repeat now that this suggestion is impossible.”
