QPR defender Tal Ben Haim joins Toronto FC on loan

The veteran defender joins the Major League Soccer side until the end of June and will link up with former Rs centre-back Ryan Nelsen, who is currently in charge of the team
QPR defender Tal Ben Haim has joined MLS side Toronto FC on loan until the end of June, the club have confirmed.

The former Chelsea man moved to Loftus Road in January, from Portsmouth, on a short-term contract, making his debut against West Brom in the FA Cup.

The Israel international went on to make six appearances for Harry Redknapp’s men who have already been relegated to the Championship.

However, Ben Haim has now made the move to Toronto FC who are managed by former QPR defender, Ryan Nelsen who joined the club in January.

“Tal Ben Haim has been one of the top defenders in the EPL for nearly a decade," Kevin Payne, the club’s president and general manager told the club’s official website.

"He captains his national team and Ryan thinks the world of him. “He’s exactly the sort of veteran defender we need.”
