The Aston Villa manager feels that it is fair to reward his top performers with renewed contracts and is hopeful that they will stay despite talk of transfer suitors
The Belgian striker has vindicated the decision to sideline Darren Bent with a return of 13 Premier League goals so far in his debut season, leading to speculation of a summer departure, while the Austrian has impressed in recent matches.
"I think you do that [give improved contracts] with most lads who are performing well for you," Lambert told the press. "I tend to look at the whole squad and think 'you've done brilliant, we'll look at that'.

"You want to work with them to keep them progressing."
Lambert is hopeful that the pair will want to stay at Villa since the club gave them a platform on which to showcase their talent.
When asked if they are likely to be at Villa Park next season, the Scot replied: "You'd like to think so. We've given them an opportunity to go and do it.
"We might have bought Christian and it might have taken a year to 18 months to settle but he has come in, hit the ground running, and is getting talked about and it's the same with Andi.
"Up until this year, Andi wasn't in the side and you give him an opportunity and he has been excellent."
