The Brazilian believes Bayern already have plenty of quality up front and feels the BVB attacker would not be a significant improvementBayern Munich striker Giovane Elber says the Bundesliga leaders do not need Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski as they already have better alternatives.
The Poland international has recently been linked with a move to Bayern, but Elber feels the Bavarians would act wise to stick with their current striking options.
"Bayern do not need Lewandowski. He's not a better player than Mario Gomez and Mario Mandzukic," Elber was quoted as saying by AZ.
"I would stick with those two. Things can go very quick in football, though. You're indispensable one day and no longer needed the next."
The Brazilian then went on to state he expects Gomez, who has mainly been warming the bench this term, to stay put and fight for his place rather than request a transfer.
"I do not think that Mario is considering a transfer. Quite the opposite, I expect him to fight back and return to the starting XI," he continued.
"He's been playing in the Bundesliga for so long, and he knows how these things work. He'll soon be a starter again if he continues to score."
Gomez has netted seven goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances so far this term.
