Wickham returns to Sunderland from Sheffield Wednesday

The England Under-21 international striker scored once in six appearances for the Hillsborough outfit and will look to force his way into Martin O'Neill's thoughts on Wearside
Connor Wickham has returned to Sunderland after his loan period with Sheffield Wednesday expired.

The England Under-21 international is available immediately for selection ahead of the Black Cats' encounter with Norwich on Sunday, having scored a single goal in nine prior appearances this campaign for Martin O'Neill's side.

The 19-year-old signed with the Owls early in February and went on net a lone strike in four starts and two showings from the bench.

Wickham will serve to reinforce a Sunderland strike force that has struggled of late, with both Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher regularly misfiring.
