The young attacker has announced on his Twitter account that reports he had rejected a new contract offer from the club were not true, and talks are still ongoing

Andreas Weimann has stated that rumours he has rejected a new deal from his club Aston Villa are untrue, and says that contract talks are still ongoing.

Rumours claimed that Weimann had turned down a four-year offer from Villa which would have increased his £15,000-a-week salary.

However, Weimann says that these reports are untrue, and that he is still happy at the club, despite facing a relegation battle this season.

"The reports in the papers about rejecting the contract are not true ! I've always been happy here and talks are still ongoing," he stated on Twitter.

The Austrian has impressed for Villa this season scoring 10 goals in all competitions including two against Manchester United in November and a fine strike against Arsenal on Saturday.

His contract is set to expire in 2014 and Paul Lambert is keen to tie the youngster down to a younger deal.

Weimann signed for Villa as a 16-year old from Rapid Vienna and has gradually become a first team player at the Midlands club via loan spells at Watford, also earning three caps for the Austrian national side during that time.
