thumbnail Hello,

The Championship side have confirmed that they turned down an offer for the Republic of Ireland international on Thursday, but did not reveal from which club

Wolves have confirmed that they received a bid for Kevin Doyle on transfer deadline day, but duly rejected the offer.

The 29-year-old has bagged five goals and four assists in 28 Championship games so far this season, leading to him being strongly linked with a January return to the Premier League.

And the club has now revealed that they did receive a formal bid for the former Reading man but rejected it, as well as turning away a "number of other" offers for their top talents.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Wolves can confirm that an offer was received for striker Kevin Doyle shortly before the closure of the transfer window on Thursday evening.

"This bid was rejected, as were a number of others for key players during January."

Wolves also insisted that they tried to strengthen in the January window but, following rejected bids for Birmingham pair Curtis Davies and Marlon King, conceded that the emergency loan window may be the club's only option.

"The club also made offers to bring players in during the transfer window but unfortunately these bids were not successful," the statement continues.

"This is not the final chance to sign players this season, and Wolves will continue to assess all options ahead of the emergency loan window re-opening next week."
