Spurs had a £16 million bid for their long-time target rejected on deadline day but the Brazilian club admit that the forward could leave for the Premier League in the summer
Tottenham have failed in their last-ditch attempt to sign Internacional forward Leandro Damiao.
In a bid to bolster their attacking options, with Jermain Defoe carrying a pelvic injury and Emmanuel Adebayor at the Africa Cup of Nations, Spurs were locked in talks with the Brazilian side on Thursday afternoon but a £16 million offer for the 23-year-old was rejected.
Internacional director of football Marcelo Medeiros revealed that the club are looking for a larger fee for the Brazil international but concedes that the striker could potentially be sold during the summer transfer window.

On Thursday evening, Tottenham allowed Andros Townsend to move to QPR on loan until the end of the season, while midfielder Jermaine Jenas has also joined Harry Redknapp's side on a permanent deal.
